Update: Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Returns as Amex UK Transfer Partner

False alarm - but here's what happened and why we reported it

Quick update on the other day’s news about Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and American Express UK - the transfer partnership is back! KrisFlyer has returned to the Membership Rewards transfer partner list with the same terms as before:

  • Transfer rate: 3 Membership Rewards points = 2 KrisFlyer miles

  • Minimum transfer: 900 Membership Rewards points

  • Transfer time: Up to 15 working days

Why We Reported The Removal

On the 3rd of January, we noticed that Singapore Airlines had disappeared from the Amex UK transfer partners page and transfer functionality was disabled - something that's quite unusual. Even American Express chat representatives confirmed transfers weren't possible at the time. Given recent partnership changes in other markets, we felt it important to alert our readers to what appeared to be a significant development.

While we jumped the gun a bit in reporting it as a removal (mea culpa!), we believe in keeping our community informed about potential changes that could affect their points strategy - especially when it comes to temporary technical issues that might impact time-sensitive transfers.

Why KrisFlyer Still Matters

We're genuinely relieved to see KrisFlyer back as a transfer partner. Singapore Airlines offers some fantastic sweet spots, particularly for intra-Asia travel. For example, you can find excellent value in business class routes like:

  • Singapore to Bali

  • Bali to Bangkok via Singapore

  • Bali to Hong Kong via Singapore

Pro tip: You can plan these routes easily using our Smart Redemptions tool to check availability and compare points requirements across different programs.

Looking Forward

This incident serves as a reminder that while we strive to bring you breaking news about points and miles, sometimes changes that appear permanent turn out to be temporary technical issues. We'll continue to monitor and report on developments in the points and miles world, always with the goal of helping you make informed decisions about your points strategy.
