Black Friday Flight Deals for 2024

Get ready for one of the biggest travel sales of the year - Black Friday

Black Friday 2024 is approaching, and airlines are gearing up for what looks to be an exciting sale season. While most deals officially launch on November 29th, several airlines have already started teasing their promotions. Let's break down what we know so far and how you can prepare to snag the best deals.

Stay tuned: we’ll be updating this each time a new deal comes out!

British Airways

BA previously offered 20% off select beach destinations including the Maldives and Antigua, but these needed to be booked by November 18th. They should announce their sale very soon.

Virgin Atlantic

While specific deals haven't been announced yet, Virgin Atlantic typically offers competitive discounts on Caribbean and North American routes during Black Friday. Keep an eye on their website as we approach the sale date.

Budget Airlines

EasyJet and Ryanair are both promising significant sales. EasyJet's past offerings included one-way flights from £28.99, while Ryanair is teasing a "colossal sale." These budget carriers often provide excellent value, especially for short-haul European trips.

Qatar Airways

Based on previous years, expect around 12% off flights plus bonus Avios points. Qatar consistently offers some of the best business class deals during Black Friday, so this is one to watch if you're planning a premium cabin trip.

British Airways Shopping Portal

There is a heightened offer on the BA eStore right now which has many rates increased by 50%, you can read more about this in our piece: British Airways Shopping Portal Launches Black Friday 50% Avios Bonus Offer.

How to Prepare

  1. Use Smart Redemptions to research regular cash and points prices for your desired routes. Set alerts on Google Flights for price changes. This will help you identify genuine deals.

  2. Check specific seat availability using Flight Seatmap before booking - popular routes sell out quickly during sales.

  3. Have the right payment card ready. I'll be using my Capital on Tap Business card for the additional Avios earning potential.

My Strategy

I'm particularly interested in Qatar Airways' sale this year. With my British Airways Gold status, I can get excellent value combining economy sale fares with status perks.

If you're planning to book during the sales, I'd recommend having multiple options ready. Popular routes and the best deals tend to get snapped up quickly, so flexibility is key.

Also worth noting - while Black Friday officially falls on November 29th, many airlines start their sales earlier. Expedia, for example, is launching their offers on November 22nd. Setting calendar reminders for these dates could help you secure the best deals.

Remember to check our BA Avios calculator to see if using points might be better value than cash, even during the sales. Sometimes, despite the discounts, a points redemption can still offer better value.
