If you have a stash of Capital on Tap Reward Points sitting idle, there's a reason to pay attention this month. Qatar Airways Privilege Club has launched a 30% transfer bonus on Avios conversions running from 1 to 30 June 2026, and Capital on Tap is named on the list of participating partners. The catch - and it's an important one - is that this is Qatar's promotion, not Capital on Tap's, which changes a few things you'll want to understand before you start moving points around.
Let me walk through what's actually on offer, the maths for UK business cardholders, and whether I'd personally bother.
In this article
What's the deal, exactly?
Qatar Airways is offering an uncapped 30% bonus on Avios transferred into Privilege Club from a long list of banking and loyalty partners. The promotion runs until 30 June 2026, and the eligible partners include Capital on Tap alongside the likes of HSBC, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt and Accor.
The headline most people will reach for is the premium cabin value. Qatar has flagged redemptions like Business Class to Europe for the equivalent of roughly 53,846 Avios after the bonus is factored in. That's the kind of number that gets people excited, though as ever it depends on finding the seats.
There are two things about the mechanics that genuinely matter here, so I'll be blunt about them.
The bonus is paid by Qatar, not at the point of transfer
When you move your Capital on Tap points across, you'll see the standard rate land in your Privilege Club account. The 30% bonus does not appear during the transfer. Qatar credits it separately, and the terms state it'll be in your account by 31 July 2026. So if you transfer and immediately panic that the bonus hasn't shown up, that's expected behaviour, not a glitch.
It is not retroactive, and timing is everything
This is the part I'd underline twice. Qatar's terms say the bonus Avios will not be calculated retroactively, and that if your points convert into Avios after the campaign ends, you get nothing. The key word is "convert" - the Avios need to actually land in your Qatar account within the campaign window, not simply be initiated before it. With any multi-step transfer, you want to leave plenty of headroom rather than cutting it fine on 30 June.
The maths for Capital on Tap holders
This is where UK readers need to be realistic. Your Capital on Tap transfer rate depends on which card you hold. On the free card, 1 Reward Point converts to 0.8 Avios. On the Pro card (GBP 299 a year), it's a full 1:1.
So before any bonus, 10,000 Capital on Tap points becomes either 8,000 Avios (free card) or 10,000 Avios (Pro card). Apply Qatar's 30% bonus on top and you're looking at roughly 10,400 Avios from the free card, or 13,000 Avios from the Pro card, for that same 10,000 points.
Here's the bit worth pausing on. On the free card you normally transfer at 0.8 Avios per point - a chunk below the 1:1 that Pro cardholders (GBP 299 a year) enjoy. Apply Qatar's 30% bonus and that 0.8 becomes roughly 1.04 Avios per point, which for this window actually nudges the free card past the Pro card's standard 1:1 rate. In other words, the bonus all but erases the free-versus-Pro gap that usually makes the paid card worthwhile, and briefly hands free cardholders a rate they'd normally have to pay GBP 299 to beat. Pro cardholders aren't left out either - their 1:1 climbs to 1.3 Avios per point, which is a strong number in anyone's book.
If you want to see exactly what those bonus Avios will get you, our Avios flight cost tool shows the points needed for British Airways redemptions, and the Avios Balance Booster calculator is worth a look if you're weighing up whether topping up via Qatar beats buying directly from BA or Finnair.
One thing to keep in mind
Qatar Privilege Club is a genuinely strong programme - often better value than British Airways on long-haul Business, with good QSuite availability on its own metal. The only practical point worth noting is that, as with any single currency, it makes sense to transfer with a redemption in mind rather than speculatively parking a large balance.
My take
I think this one is a clear yes if you have a specific redemption lined up, and a "leave it" if you're transferring speculatively. The bonus is a reason to top up for a trip you're planning, not a reason to drain your Capital on Tap balance on spec.
For me personally, with two Capital on Tap business cards in the stack, the appeal is real but conditional. I'd only move points I had a near-term use for, and I'd do it early in June rather than leaving it to the wire given the 31 July crediting deadline and the strict no-retroactive rule. If I were sitting on points with no plan, I'd let this one pass and wait for a transfer bonus into BA or a direct Avios sale instead.
If you do go for it, Capital on Tap remains one of the better free Avios-earning options for UK businesses - I've written up where it sits in our best Avios business credit cards guide. And if you're not yet a cardholder, you can find it via our Capital on Tap referral link.
One last practical tip: if your eventual goal is a Qatar QSuite redemption, use Award Travel Finder to check live availability before you transfer a single point. There's no sense bonusing your way to a balance for seats that aren't there.

Avios transfer bonus FAQs
How does the Qatar Avios transfer bonus work with Capital on Tap?
You convert your Capital on Tap Reward Points into Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios as normal. The 30% bonus is applied by Qatar, not Capital on Tap, and lands as a separate credit by 31 July 2026. The transfer itself shows only the standard rate at the point you make it.
What is the Capital on Tap to Avios transfer rate?
The free Capital on Tap card transfers at 0.8 Avios per point, while the Pro card (GBP 299 a year) transfers at a full 1:1. With Qatar's 30% bonus on top, the free card effectively reaches around 1.04 Avios per point and the Pro card around 1.3 Avios per point for this window.
What is an Avios worth?
Most UK collectors value an Avios at somewhere between 1p and 1.5p depending on how you redeem, with premium-cabin redemptions usually delivering the strongest value. Our Avios flight cost tool shows exactly how many points a given British Airways route needs, which is the quickest way to sense-check whether a transfer is worth it.
When does the Avios transfer bonus end?
The campaign runs from 1 to 30 June 2026. Crucially the bonus is not retroactive, so your Avios must actually land in your Qatar account within that window - leave time for any multi-step transfer rather than initiating it on the final day.
