IHG x Revolut Elite Boots 30,000 Points for £216 - Plus Qatar Doubles Avios for European Members

The IHG x Revolut Elite debit card launched in June 2026 and has a standard sign-up bonus of 15,000 IHG One Rewards points. But until 25th August 2026, that bonus doubles to 30,000 points when you spend £3,000 in any currency within your first three months. At roughly 0.4p per IHG point (based on real hotel redemptions), that's around £120 in hotel value for hitting a spend target most people would clear naturally.

The card costs £18 per month (£216 per year) and is a debit card linked to a Revolut current account - not a credit card - so there's no hard credit check involved. That's a meaningful detail for anyone who's been turned down for Amex or doesn't meet the £20,000 income requirement most travel credit cards demand.

But the genuinely interesting bit is the spend ladder. Spend £15,000 in a card year and you receive a Flex Night Certificate worth up to 40,000 IHG points - redeemable at the likes of InterContinental London Park Lane (where cash rates regularly exceed £400 per night). Hit £35,000 and you're upgraded to Diamond Elite status for the rest of that year and all of the following one - which comes with guaranteed free breakfast.

There's also a boosted earn rate at IHG hotels running until 31st October 2026 - 9 points per £1 at IHG hotels in the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and UAE. At 0.4p per point, that's 3.6p back per £1 spent at an IHG hotel overseas. Not bad at all.

Heads up: You need to keep your Revolut account funded because every purchase is immediately debited. If you don't want to move your main banking to Revolut, you'll need to top it up regularly. Also, IHG points transfer to airline miles at a weak 5:1 rate - so use these points for hotel redemptions, not flight transfers. Qatar Airways has quietly launched a 2X Avios promotion aimed specifically at Privilege Club members in Europe whose accounts have gone quiet. If your account address is registered in the UK (or any of the listed European countries) and you haven't been active recently, you can earn double Avios on flights - but only if you book using promo code JULYPC by this Wednesday, July 30 and fly by 15th December 2026.

The UK is explicitly included in the eligible list. So if you've got a dormant Privilege Club account and a Qatar flight coming up before December - think winter sun to Doha, Colombo, or Bangkok - this is worth actioning before Wednesday night.

Heads up: The double Avios applies to eligible bookings made through the Qatar promotion page with the code. Joby Aviation and Virgin Atlantic have formalised a multi-year partnership to bring Joby's electric air taxi service to the UK. The deal builds on an exclusivity arrangement Joby already has with Delta Air Lines in the US, and converts the partnership the two companies first announced in 2025 into something more concrete.

The practical implications for points collectors are still a way off - but from a Virgin ecosystem standpoint, it's worth watching. Virgin Atlantic already has strong links with Delta through the joint venture, and Joby's Delta relationship suggests that high-frequency flyers (and potentially Virgin Flying Club members) could eventually access air taxi credits or integrations.

And honestly? The concept of earning Virgin Points on a 15-minute electric hop from central London to Heathrow has a certain appeal. We're not there yet - but the direction of travel (pun intended) is clear. I'll keep tracking this as it develops.

AFKLM is shutting down the Flying Blue+ shopping app on Thursday, 31st July - that's this Thursday. The app allowed Flying Blue members to earn miles on everyday purchases, but uptake was reportedly low and the earn rates were poor versus comparable services. If you've been using it and have miles sitting in the app, check whether they've posted to your Flying Blue account. Once the app closes, any unposted balances may be at risk. No action needed if you never used it - but if you did, log in and verify your balance before Thursday.

The answer is 🟣 40,000 points. When you hit £15,000 of spend in a card year on the IHG x Revolut Elite card, you receive a Flex Night Certificate that lets you book a reward night worth up to 40,000 IHG One Rewards points - or take a 40,000-point discount on a more expensive redemption. At 0.4p per point, that certificate is worth around £160 in hotel value - which goes a long way towards covering the card's £216 annual fee.
