British Airways' Seattle Lounge Reopens: Looking Good!
The Latest in BA's £7bn Global Transformation Programme

British Airways has officially reopened its Seattle lounge following an extensive refurbishment, marking another significant step in the airline's ambitious £7bn transformation programme. This latest upgrade coincides with BA's 45th anniversary of flying to the Emerald City and joins recently refreshed lounges in Singapore, Washington, Lagos, and London Gatwick.

What's New in Seattle?
The Seattle lounge in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has been thoughtfully redesigned to blend Pacific Northwest influences with classic British elegance. Key features include:
A brand-new full-service bar serving as the lounge's centrepiece
A completely redesigned food servery area with expanded hot and cold options
Dedicated à la carte dining exclusively for First passengers
Work-friendly focus pods for productive pre-flight time
Strategic design that maximizes the stunning 180-degree views of both runway and mountains

Dubai Lounge: A Much-Needed Upgrade Coming Soon
I'm particularly excited about the upcoming new Dubai lounge, which is set to open later this year. The current offering at Dubai International Airport has long been a weak point in BA's lounge network, especially considering Dubai's importance as both a destination and connecting hub.
The new Dubai facility will be the first to showcase British Airways' next-generation lounge design concept, featuring:
Exclusive Concorde Dining with à la carte service
A significantly elevated food offering beyond the current limited selection
Proper shower facilities – a crucial amenity for long-haul travelers
A full-service bar with premium beverage options
Brand new furnishings and design elements that will set the template for future lounge refreshes
For those of us who frequently travel through Dubai, this can't come soon enough. The existing lounge has fallen behind the standards offered by other oneworld carriers and local competitors, so this represents a much-needed investment in a key market. As someone who connects through Dubai several times a year, I'm looking forward to experiencing this upgraded space firsthand.
What's Next for BA's Lounge Network?
The Seattle reopening and upcoming Dubai launch are just pieces of BA's ambitious lounge transformation roadmap. Looking ahead:
Miami will receive a new lounge conveniently located above departure gates
Boston and Glasgow lounges will begin renovations later in 2025
Major transformational changes to Heathrow Terminal 3 and 5 lounges will commence in 2026
My Thoughts: Setting New Standards
As someone who regularly uses British Airways' lounges with my Gold status, I'm pleased to see this systematic approach to upgrading their global network. The inclusion of work pods particularly resonates with me – finding a quiet, productive space has sometimes been challenging in busier lounges.

For anyone planning travel through Seattle, Washington, Singapore, or Gatwick in the near future, these refreshed lounges provide another reason to consider British Airways.
The true test will be whether these refreshed spaces can maintain their appeal over time. Based on BA's substantial financial commitment (£7bn across their entire transformation programme), there's reason for optimism that these aren't just cosmetic updates but part of a sustained quality improvement initiative.
