Chase 30% Avios Transfer Bonus: What UK Readers Should Know

Chase has launched a 30% transfer bonus from Ultimate Rewards to British Airways Club, Iberia Club and Aer Lingus AerClub Avios. That means every 1,000 Chase points transferred lands as 1,300 Avios, which makes some Avios redemptions unusually cheap. The catch for UK readers is that Ultimate Rewards is a US credit card scheme, so this one mainly benefits people who already hold Chase points.

Chase is boosting transfers from its Ultimate Rewards currency into three Avios-based programmes: British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Club and Aer Lingus AerClub. All three use Avios, so the bonus effectively gives you 30% more of the same currency for the same number of Chase points.

The simplest way to see the value is the transfer maths. Move 10,000 Chase points and you receive 13,000 Avios instead of 10,000. At a conservative valuation of 1p per Avios, that is roughly £130 of flight value from points that would normally be worth about £100.

The headline examples are where it gets interesting. Europe in business class from 34,000 Chase points, or Qatar Qsuite from 59,000, are strong prices because the bonus shrinks the number of Chase points you need. You can test how those Avios prices compare for your own route with our BA Avios flight calculator, and check what a point is worth to you with the Avios value calculator.

This is aimed at holders of Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which are earned on US-issued Chase cards. If you do not already have a balance, you cannot simply sign up from the UK and take advantage. For most UK readers the useful takeaway is the pricing benchmark: it shows how competitive a bonus-boosted Avios redemption can be.

If you do have Chase points, the sensible approach is to price up the exact flight first, confirm the award space, and only then transfer. Transfers into Avios are instant in most cases, but they cannot be reversed.

UK readers building an Avios balance through domestic cards have other routes. The American Express Gold and Platinum cards earn Membership Rewards that convert to Avios, and you can check your sign-up bonus status with our Amex welcome bonus eligibility tool.

Only if you hold Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which come from US-issued Chase cards. It is not something you can take advantage of from a standard UK card.

The bonus applies to transfers to British Airways Club, Iberia Club and Aer Lingus AerClub, all of which use Avios.

With the 30% bonus you would receive 13,000 Avios for 10,000 Chase points, versus 10,000 without the promotion.

A 30% Avios bonus from Chase is a genuinely strong promotion for anyone sitting on Ultimate Rewards points, with Europe business class from 34,000 Chase points and Qsuite from 59,000 standing out. For most UK readers it is more of a useful benchmark than an offer to chase, but it is a reminder of how much value a well-timed transfer bonus can add to your Avios balance.
