IAG Loyalty — the organisation behind Avios — has just launched a limited-time double Avios promotion with LeShuttle, the passenger car service that whisks you through the Channel Tunnel between Folkestone and Calais in just 35 minutes. The short version: book before 8 March 2026 and you can earn up to 12 Avios per £1 spent — double the usual rate.

If you're already planning a summer road trip to France (or anywhere in Europe, really), this is worth factoring in when you book your crossing.

What's the Deal?

The promotion runs on bookings made between now and 8 March 2026, for travel up to and including 28 February 2027. To claim the double Avios, you need to enter the promotional code 26X2AVIOS on the vehicle details page when booking at LeShuttle.com.

Here's how the earning rates break down with the promotion active:

🚂 Flexiplus & Short Stay Flexiplus: 12 Avios per £1 (up from 6 Avios per £1)

🚂 Day Trip & Overnight, Short Stay Saver, Standard and Standard Plus: 6 Avios per £1 (up from 3 Avios per £1)

The offer is available to members of both The British Airways Club and the Club LeShuttle loyalty programme, so most readers here should be eligible.

Is It Worth It? My Take

Let me be honest — LeShuttle isn't typically the first thing that comes to mind when I'm thinking about Avios earning. But the numbers here are genuinely decent.

A return crossing on a Standard ticket during summer can easily run to £150–£250+ depending on when you travel. At 6 Avios per £1, that's 900–1,500 Avios on a £150 return — not life-changing, but a nice bonus for something you were booking anyway. If you're splashing out on a Flexiplus ticket (which includes priority boarding, premium lounges and the flexibility to travel on any crossing), 12 Avios per £1 starts to feel like a meaningful return.

The real value I see here is for families or groups heading to France by car this summer who were going to take the tunnel regardless. Earning Avios on top costs you nothing extra, and those points can go towards flights you'd otherwise be paying cash for. For context on what Avios can get you, our Avios flight calculator is handy for working out what a haul of points will cover.

You Can Also Redeem Avios with LeShuttle

LeShuttle adopted Avios as its rewards currency last year, which means you can also redeem Avios for vouchers towards a crossing. Prices start from 1,000 Avios for a £5 voucher. I'll be upfront — that's not a particularly glamorous redemption compared to, say, business class to New York. But if you have a small pile of Avios that wouldn't stretch to a flight, it's at least a practical use of them.

To get a sense of what your Avios balance could get you on flights before you decide to spend them on tunnel vouchers, take a look at our Avios Balance Booster Calculator — it helps you understand whether topping up your Avios or using what you have makes most sense.

The LeShuttle Experience

For those who haven't used it, LeShuttle is genuinely one of the more pleasant ways to get to France. You drive your car onto the train at Folkestone, sit in or around your vehicle for 35 minutes, and drive off in Calais. No airport-style queues (generally speaking — though peak summer times can get busy), no luggage restrictions, no boarding pass faff. Pets travel with you, which for dog owners in particular is a huge plus.

Departures run up to four times per hour at peak times, and it operates 24/7, 365 days a year. For spontaneous travel, that flexibility is hard to beat.

How to Stack Your Points Earning

If you're booking a LeShuttle crossing, don't forget to pay with a points-earning credit card to double up on rewards. In my wallet, I'd reach for the Barclaycard Avios Plus for earning Avios directly on the spend, or the American Express Gold or Platinum Business to earn Membership Rewards points that can transfer to Avios. Either way, you're stacking the card earn on top of the 12 Avios per £1 from LeShuttle.

Final Thoughts

This isn't the most headline-grabbing Avios promotion I've ever seen, but it's a genuinely useful one for anyone planning to drive to Europe this year. If you're taking the tunnel anyway, there's no reason not to grab double Avios while you're at it — just remember to use code 26X2AVIOS at the vehicle details stage of booking, and make sure you've linked your BA Club account.
