Finnair Buy Avios Sale: 40% Discount Until 18 June 2026

Finnair is running a buy Avios sale with discounts of up to 40% off, live until Wednesday 18 June 2026. At first glance it looks worse than last month's 50% bonus promotion - but that first glance is misleading. A 40% discount is actually the better deal, and if you've been sitting on the fence about topping up your Avios balance, this is worth a close look.

The key difference is how each type of promotion works. Last month's Finnair offer was a bonus - you paid full price for your Avios and received 50% extra on top. This month's offer is a discount - you pay less per Avios from the outset.

The maths makes this clearer. A 50% bonus means you get 1.5x the Avios for full price - so every 100 Avios costs the same as 67 Avios would at full price. A 40% discount means every 100 Avios costs just 60% of the standard price. In other words, the discount gives you more Avios per pound spent. The discount wins.
