Free Avios Earning Just Got Easier: Capital on Tap Drops Annual Fee

A game-changing move for UK business owners looking to earn Avios

I'm particularly excited to share this update with you all. Capital on Tap has just made a bold move by completely removing the £99 annual fee on their Avios-earning business Visa card. As someone who has been using Capital on Tap cards for years (I currently have two in my wallet), this is genuinely great news for small business owners looking to earn travel rewards.

What makes this card special isn't just that it's now free - it's the combination of benefits that really sets it apart. You'll earn 1 Avios for every £1 spent, and crucially, there are no foreign transaction fees. This makes it unique in the UK market as the only Avios-earning card that doesn't charge you extra for spending abroad.

One of my favourite features of this card is how quickly the points transfer to British Airways Executive Club. Unlike Amex transfers which typically process overnight, Capital on Tap transfers are instant. I can't tell you how many times this has saved me when I've needed to top up my Avios balance for a specific redemption!

To be eligible, you'll need:

  • A Limited Company or LLP

  • £24,000+ annual turnover

  • Unfortunately, sole traders aren't eligible at the moment

Beyond the points earning, you get some solid business features too. There's no charge for staff cards, integration with accounting software like Xero and QuickBooks (which makes expense tracking much easier), and credit limits can go up to £250,000. Plus, you have the flexibility to convert your points to cashback at 1p per point if you prefer, though do keep in mind this would be taxable as business income.

If you're wondering how this card fits into your points strategy, I typically pair it with my Amex Business Platinum for maximum earning potential. The Capital on Tap card works perfectly as my go-to for places that don't accept Amex (like when i pay my VAT) or when I'm spending abroad.

For business owners who've been on the fence about getting an Avios-earning card due to annual fees, this could be your moment. The combination of no annual fee, no FX fees, and instant Avios transfers makes this a really compelling option for any eligible business.
