🇶🇦 Qatar Airways Unveils Qsuite Next Gen
This is a big deal so it calls for another special newsletter!
Good morning, and welcome back to Smart With Points.
This is yet another special newsletter edition, covering the latest release of perhaps the best business class seat in the sky (bookable with Avios too!). I’ll let you be the judge of that though…
🇶🇦 Qatar Airways Unveils Qsuite Next Gen
This week has the Farnborough International Airshow taking place, an event that frankly I had no idea was so big in the aviation calendar year ($51b of deals done already!). I attended on this first day, along with my Grandad (Smart With Points' newest recruit), and we had the pleasure of spending some time in the Qatar Airways area (we were even treated to their signature lemon mint!).
I spent a lot of time admiring the Qsuite Next Gen, which was set up on one side of the room in all its glory. As you can see from the video below, there was the redesigned quad layout and the new companion suites on show.
The main changes are:
It features fully customisable Quad Suites that can accommodate up to 4 passengers.
The suites have 4K OLED screens that can be completely moved to create larger social/work spaces (previously they would still be in the way).
New Companion Suites are available in window aisles (this is huge imo).
Increased privacy with taller digital dividers.
Larger lie-flat and double beds.
Customisable ambient lighting and privacy controls.
Lockable drawers for valuables
Now, let me tell you a bit more about what it was like to actually sit in these suites. The first thing that struck me was the sheer amount of space. I felt like I could stretch out completely without worrying about bumping into anything. The seat itself is very comfy too – it's the kind of comfort that makes you think, "Yeah, I could definitely sleep here".
One thing that really caught my eye was the movable screens. It's not just a gimmick – they now reposition into the wall, rather than sliding away (kind of), and really create a lot more space in the quad layout.
Now, let's talk about the Companion Suites for a second. If you're traveling with a partner or a friend, these window-side suites are pretty sweet. You get all the privacy you need, but you can also easily chat or dine together, without compromising the views from the window. This is a nice step up from the old Qsuite in my opinion, and something I look forward to trying.
I also had a chat with one of the Qatar Airways reps about their plans for rolling this out. Apparently, they're starting with the Boeing 777-9 aircraft in 2025/26 (however these have been delayed years now), but they hinted that we might see it on some new A350’s in the future too. Fingers crossed it comes out soon!
Honestly, spending time in the Qatar Airways area really showed me how they're pushing the boundaries of business class travel. The Qsuite is arguably the best business class seat out there, yet they’re taking things to a whole new level which is pretty exciting to see!
Is the Qsuite Next Gen an improvement? |
P.S. If anyone from Qatar Airways is reading this – I'm available for a test run of the Qsuite Next Gen. You know, for research purposes...
Final Words
