Earn Avios on Train Tickets Booked Via Uber + Cashback Deal

There are now huge benefits to linking your Uber and British Airways Executive Club accounts. 

You no longer just get points for riding with Uber taxis. The Uber App now allows you to book a range of transport options. You can earn 1 Avios per £1 spent with:

• Coach trips with National Express and Megabus

• Train tickets booked via the app in the UK

• Eurostar

• Uber Boat

• Lime E-bikes and Scooters

There is no other way to earn Avios with companies like Eurostar directly through the BA Executive Portal.

Double Dipping: Remember you can pay with an AMEX or Barclaycard for extra Avios or AMEX Membership Rewards per £1 spent. 

How to Link your Uber App and BA Executive Club Account:

1. Click Account in the bottom right and find ‘Settings.’

2. Click on ‘Collect Avios with Uber’.

3. Refresh the app and go to settings. It should now show, ‘You’re now collecting Avios with Uber.’

DEAL ALERT: When you book your train via Uber, you currently get 10% back in Uber credits to spend on train rides or UberEats. 

You can also save more with Uber because there are no booking fees compared to booking trains with well-known apps like Trainline.

Changes to the AMEX Membership Rewards Programme

The AMEX Membership Rewards Programme often makes subtle changes, but the latest change is bad news if you're considering transferring your points to Emirates Skywards. It is good news however if you’re planning on transferring Avios into your Qatar Privilege Club account.

Skywards Devaluation

From 19 August, the transfer ratio for Emirates Skywards will be 4 Membership Rewards Points = 3 Emirates Skywards miles.

The previous rate was 1:1, so the devaluation is 25%!

You need 1,000 points to make a transfer.

New: Transfer Membership Rewards Points to the Qatar Privilege Club

You can now transfer Membership Rewards Points directly into Qatar Airways Avios at a rate of 1:1, and you only need 500 points to transfer. They also transfer instantly, which monumental considering BA takes up to 3 working days.

Or, you can send them to your Qatar Airways account, then transfer them to BA instantly (and then onwards to Finnair/Iberia/Aer Lingus).

Last week I made a booking with Finnair and needed to do it quickly in order to secure some highly sought after seats. I transferred my Amex Membership Reward points to Qatar Airways Avios, then to British Airways, then to Finnair. The process took a matter of minutes!

Purchasing insurance through the British Airways Executive Club portal is a good way to earn Avios on spending you would have done anyway. If you need to get new insurance or swap policies, check whether you can get it through the BA portal.

Double Avios on British Airways Flights and Holidays to America: Up to 18 Avios per £1

British Airways has launched a new bonus Avios promotion for flights and holidays to the United States. You can now collect DOUBLE AVIOS on flights and holiday packages with British Airways Holidays. 

How to get double Avios on your booking:

1. Register for the offer

2. Make a booking by 16th August 2024. It must be a one-way or return flight to the US or a BA holiday to the US.

3. Enjoy your trip by 25th June 2025.

4. Your Avios will be awarded after you return home.

The higher tier you hold, the more Avios you can get from this offer! If you have gold status, you can earn 3x the Avios a Blue status holder would earn on a standard flight.

Important Details to Know:

• Your journey must start in the UK.

• The promotion applies to both one-way and return flights.

• You can receive double Avios on up to 10 qualifying flights per person.

• When booking a British Airways Holidays package, earn an additional 2 Avios per £1 spent on the entire package, plus double Avios on the flight.

• Codeshares and partner flights do not qualify for this promotion.

Tip: Pay with an Avios earning credit card to get even more Avios per £1 spent.
