Virgin Atlantic has ended guesting for Upper Class passengers, effective from 2nd November. If you are flying Upper Class, you can no longer bring a guest into any Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, any third-party lounge used by the airline, or the Upper Class Wing at London Heathrow. The airline has confirmed the change, which brings it in line with Delta, where Delta One passengers were already blocked from bringing a guest.
What has Virgin Atlantic changed about Clubhouse guesting?
The change removes a perk that Upper Class passengers have relied on for years: bringing a companion into the lounge who is not travelling in the same cabin. From 2nd November 2026, that option has gone across the board, not just at Heathrow.
Virgin Atlantic says the move follows customer feedback. It also lands in the same week the airline has been planning for a far emptier Heathrow Terminal 3 Clubhouse, with Delta set to move its flights into Terminal 4.
Applies from 2nd November 2026
Covers every Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse
Also covers third-party lounges and the Heathrow Upper Class Wing
Upper Class passengers can still enter themselves, just without a guest
Aligns Virgin with Delta, where Delta One passengers already had no guesting
Who can still get into the Heathrow Clubhouse?
Access to the Clubhouse is exclusive to eligible passengers and cannot be bought. The rules vary slightly by Clubhouse, but these are the Heathrow rules from 2nd November 2026.
By ticket type, you get automatic access if you are flying in Upper Class on Virgin Atlantic or Delta One on Delta, but neither can bring a guest. Business class passengers on other SkyTeam airlines do not get Clubhouse access.
By status, the following can enter the Clubhouse if they are not flying Upper Class or Delta One, and each includes one guest travelling on the same flight:
Virgin Flying Club Gold, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight in any class
Delta SkyMiles Diamond or Platinum Medallion, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight in premium economy
Air France / KLM Flying Blue Platinum, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight in premium economy
Does Flying Club Gold still get you a guest into the Clubhouse?
Yes. This is the quirk worth knowing about. A Flying Club Gold member flying on Virgin Atlantic or Delta in any class can still bring one guest travelling on the same flight, whereas an Upper Class passenger without status now cannot.
If you rely on Clubhouse guesting, status now matters more than the ticket. If you hold Virgin Gold already, nothing changes for you. If you only reach the lounge via an Upper Class fare, plan on going in solo.
A quick way to see which side of the line you sit on is to check what a redemption costs with our Virgin Atlantic points calculator, then compare it with how often you actually fly the airline.
Which passengers do not get into the Clubhouse?
Some status holders are shut out of the Clubhouse altogether, but can use the No1 Lounge in Terminal 3 instead. A guest travelling on the same flight is included in every case.
Delta SkyMiles Diamond or Platinum Medallion, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight in economy
Air France / KLM Flying Blue Platinum, flying on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight in economy
All other SkyTeam Elite Plus members flying on Virgin Atlantic, Delta or Aeromexico in economy or premium economy
Virgin Australia Velocity Club Gold, Platinum and Beyond members flying Virgin Atlantic
Air New Zealand Gold or Elite members flying Virgin Atlantic to San Francisco and Los Angeles
It is possible some of these passengers will gain Clubhouse access from 2028, once capacity opens up as Delta moves its flights into Terminal 4. That is speculation rather than an announcement, so do not plan around it.
The catch: credit card Clubhouse vouchers have gone too
There is another quiet change for UK cardholders. It is no longer possible to take a Clubhouse access voucher as a reward option on a UK Virgin Atlantic credit card. That closes another route that used to let non-flyers or lower-cabin passengers into the lounge.
The honest takeaway is that Clubhouse access is getting tighter on three fronts at once: no Upper Class guests, no card vouchers, and a status-led pecking order for everyone else.
Frequently asked questions
Can I bring a guest into the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse in Upper Class?
Not from 2nd November 2026. Upper Class passengers can no longer bring a guest into any Clubhouse, third-party lounge or the Heathrow Upper Class Wing.
Does Virgin Flying Club Gold still allow a guest?
Yes. Flying Club Gold members on a Virgin Atlantic or Delta flight in any class can still bring one guest travelling on the same flight.
Can I still get Clubhouse access with a Virgin Atlantic credit card?
No. A Clubhouse access voucher is no longer available as a reward option on a UK Virgin Atlantic credit card.
Do Delta One passengers get a guest in the Clubhouse?
No. Delta One passengers were already blocked from bringing a guest, and Virgin Atlantic has now matched that policy for Upper Class.
The bottom line
If you travel Upper Class and like to bring a partner or friend into the lounge, that perk ended on 2nd November. Flying Club Gold status is now the cleaner way to keep guesting rights, because it works in any class on Virgin Atlantic or Delta. Everyone else should expect to enter the Clubhouse alone, or use the No1 Lounge if their status only qualifies for that.
