World of Hyatt has launched online points transfers between members, live from 15 October 2026. Until now, moving Hyatt points to another member meant completing a paper form and waiting for Hyatt to process it by hand. Now you can send points through the Hyatt website, and transfers are usually completed within 24 hours. That makes it far easier for couples, families and travel companions to pool points for a shared stay. Milesopedia has the full details of the launch.
The main rules are:
Minimum transfer: 1,000 points, then in increments of 500
Annual limit: up to 525,000 points sent and 525,000 points received per calendar year
Frequency: one transfer per calendar month, and six per calendar year
Both accounts must have been open for at least 60 days
No fee: transfers are free and move at a 1:1 ratio
You do not need to be related to the recipient. A friend or travel companion with a valid World of Hyatt account, open for at least 60 days, is eligible.

Here is a simple example. If you have 20,000 points and your partner has another 20,000 points, you can combine them into one account and book a 40,000-point night. Hyatt's award chart puts its top category at 40,000 points a night at standard pricing, and peak dates cost more, according to Award Travel Finder. Award Travel Finder estimates Hyatt points at around 2p each on average, so a pooled balance can turn a stay that was out of reach into a realistic booking.
Pooling works well in a few common situations:
Couples who each earn points through hotel stays or card spend and want to combine them for a joint trip
Families where several adults hold accounts, but none has enough for a top-tier redemption on its own
Friends who want to split the points cost of a shared room
Anyone with a smaller balance that is not yet enough for the property they want
The 60-day account rule is the main barrier for new members. If you have just joined, you will need to wait two months before you can send or receive a transfer.
To transfer points, log in to your World of Hyatt account on the Hyatt website, open the points transfer section, and enter the recipient's World of Hyatt member number and the amount you want to send. Milesopedia reports that the recipient's first name, last name, email address and member number must all match their account.
Check the recipient's details carefully before you submit. Once a transfer is sent, you cannot cancel or undo it. Hyatt also says it may review a request, ask for more information, or decline or reverse a transfer that it suspects is fraud or an attempt to get around the rules. Points that you receive show as Bonus Points in your account.
A few practical points to keep in mind:
The one-transfer-per-month rule means you cannot make several small top-ups in quick succession, so plan ahead if you are building towards a specific booking
Most transfers are usually completed within 24 hours, but Hyatt's review process can take up to 10 business days for some requests
Know your target redemption before you move points. Hyatt's standard award pricing starts at a few thousand points a night and rises to 40,000 for its top category

Credit card welcome bonuses (UK):
1. HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard: 70,000 points when you spend £2,000 in the first 90 days (£290 a year)
2. American Express Platinum Card: 50,000 Membership Rewards points when you spend £6,000 in the first 3 months (£650 a year)

World of Hyatt's move to online transfers is a useful upgrade. It is free, usually fast, and open to any member whose account has been open for at least 60 days. If you and a partner, family member or friend have separate balances that are not quite enough for the property you want, check whether combining them gets you there.
