✈️ Smart With Points
💼 Iberia On Business switches to cash rewards overnight - BA version unchanged for now
🔄 Cathay Pacific announces major loyalty programme changes starting 2026
Good morning points collectors! Welcome to another week of UK travel rewards news. Grab a cuppa — we've got some significant programme changes to discuss today that could impact how you earn and burn your business travel rewards.
😮 Iberia Shakes Up On Business Programme
Without any warning, Iberia has completely transformed its On Business programme to a revenue-based system. Your existing points? They've been converted to cash credit at €5 for every 100 On Business points.
The new earn rate works out to 5-7.5% cashback on flight spending (excluding taxes). While this might sound decent for economy redemptions, there's a catch: you lose the ability to get outsized value on peak dates when cash prices are sky-high.
The big question: Will BA follow? While the British Airways version of On Business remains unchanged for now, it would be unusual for the programmes to operate differently long-term. If you're sitting on On Business points, you might want to use them sooner rather than later.
🔄 Cathay's Loyalty Evolution
Cathay Pacific is revamping its frequent flyer programme with changes rolling out from January 2026. The key update: Status Points will no longer reset to zero annually, making it easier to maintain your tier level. Full implementation comes in 2027, giving members plenty of time to adapt.
That's all for today! Keep collecting those points, and we'll see you tomorrow with more UK travel rewards news.
