Quick one, because the clock is ticking. Royal Jordanian's flash hotel status match has been cut short. It was due to run until Saturday 7 November, but it now closes on Thursday 5 November 2026 - two days early. No end time has been published, so I'd treat tonight as your real deadline.
If you missed it earlier in the week: any UK or EU resident with hotel status - even a free Radisson account - can pay for a year of Royal Club Gold Sparrow, which is oneworld Sapphire. That's the tier that gets you into BA's lounges. I went through the full details in my guide to this week's hotel match. Here's the short version.
AT A GLANCE
What

Cost
US$149 (about £112) with mid-tier hotel status, or US$248 (about £187) from entry level or a free account

What you can still get before it closes
WHAT // The match is run by StatusMatch.com for Royal Jordanian's Royal Club, and the prices haven't changed:
Mid or top-tier hotel status (Marriott Gold Elite and up, Hilton Gold or Diamond, IHG Gold Elite and up, Accor Gold and up, Radisson Premium or VIP and more): Gold Sparrow (oneworld Sapphire) for US$149
Entry-level hotel status (including a brand-new, free Radisson Rewards account): Sapphire for US$248, or Silver Jay (oneworld Ruby) for US$49
If you have a UK Amex Platinum, its Hilton Honors Gold benefit puts you in the US$149 group - see our Amex Platinum hotel status guide for how to switch it on.
How to apply tonight:
Join Royal Club for free and note your membership number. No hotel status? Join Radisson Rewards (free) first.
Take a screenshot of your hotel account that shows your name, member number and tier.
Go to the Royal Jordanian status match page, choose your hotel programme, upload the screenshot and pay with a UK or EU-issued card.
It takes about ten minutes. Approval can take a few days, but what matters is that your application is in before the window closes.
WHY IT MATTERS // Royal Jordanian's Royal Club benefits table lists lounge access with one guest for Gold Sparrow on Royal Jordanian and oneworld flights. For most of us that means BA's lounges at Heathrow and Gatwick - even on a short-haul economy ticket. The same alliance tier through BA means BA Silver, which needs 7,500 tier points in a year (our BA tier point calculator shows how far away that is).

Before you pay
Done an RJ match before? You most likely can't do it again, and that includes the earlier hotel windows.
Already BA Silver or above? You already have Sapphire, so you'd be paying for the same lounges twice.
No priority boarding on BA, no upgrade vouchers, 12 months only. Lounges and priority check-in work on BA, but Royal Jordanian's own table excludes BA from Gold Sparrow priority boarding.
Pay without the fee. The charge is in US dollars, so use a card with no foreign transaction fee, such as Curve or Revolut.
💡 WHAT TO ACTUALLY DO
Two or more oneworld trips in the next year and no BA Silver? Apply for the match tonight. Not sure you'll fly oneworld next year? Let it go - there'll be other windows.

My verdict
A deadline that moves forward is a good reminder of how these flash matches work: they're a gift, not a promise, and they can vanish whenever the airline has had enough sign-ups. Royal Jordanian hasn't said why it's closing early, but my guess is demand - this is about as easy a route into oneworld Sapphire as we've seen.
I still think it's the easiest way into oneworld Sapphire this year. But I'd say the same thing I said earlier this week: don't let a deadline talk you into £112 you won't use. If you do apply, use Award Travel Finder to find oneworld award seats to put it to work, and check which lounges you'll get with our lounge access finder. And if it closes before you get to it, the regular Royal Jordanian status match is still there for anyone with European airline status.
